Original manuscript of chapter 11 of A tramp abroad, Samuel L. Clemens's (Mark Twain's) account of his sojourn of nearly a year and a half in Europe, written in the form of a burlesque walking tour. In this text, the author recounts a hike taken with a Mr. Harris up the Neckar River from Heidelberg to Heilbronn and sights along the way. With numerous revisions, deletions, and marginal notes. Paginated 551-566, 569-583, corrected to 321-334, 337-351, by Clemens and the chapter number has been changed from "21" to "13" to "10" to "11" by him. Includes later ms. title page, printed page with text "Pages from the original edition," followed by p. 100-106 of same, and a portrait of the author signed "J.A.J. Wilson, sc., Boston" as a frontispiece.
